Antiracism in Cuba, Panel Discussion

Analyzing the ideology and rhetoric around race in Cuba and south Florida during the early years of the Cuban revolution, Devyn Spence Benson argues in her book Antiracism in Cuba: The Unfinished Revolution that ideas, stereotypes, and discriminatory practices relating to racial difference persisted (and persist to this day) despite major efforts by the Cuban state to generate social equality.

To facilitate a discussion of the current state of race relations in Cuba, as well as the nation's relationship with the U.S. following the death of Fidel Castro, Devyn Spence Benson will be joined by Davidson College Professor of Latin American Studies Jane Mangan.
