Meet Science Fiction writer Chance Shiver who will be available to sign his new book, Oberlin’s Anomaly.
In Oberlin’s Anomaly, Jack Starkey, still struggling with clinical depression arising out of the deaths of his wife and son, is caught up in a secret war that threatens life on earth. Just out of a mental institution, he is attacked and narrowly escapes death, beginning an astounding metamorphosis that his lover, Sheila Wainwright, and he face together. Proteus, a benign alien entity, enters their lives and illuminates Jack's true identity. A series of historical flashbacks demonstrate Proteus' direct, positive influence on pivotal figures in the rise of man. Proteus and his warriors battle against a malign alien species and their abduction of pregnant humans to create slaves for their purposes. Jack, his metamorphosis complete, has grown to tremendous size and overcome his depression, and he and Sheila join Proteus' cadre of extraordinary and diverse warriors in this ancient, clandestine conflict.
L Chance Shiver is a Science Fiction writer living on a small mountain near Asheville, North Carolina. Native to Washington, DC and surrounding Virginia and Maryland, however, Chance is still deeply tied to Washington and particularly to the area surrounding Rock Creek, the Potomac River, and the C&O Canal National Park. These settings figure prominently in his forthcoming novel, The Oberlin Anomaly. Chance holds a B.A. in English from George Mason College of the University of Virginia. When not writing Chance spends most of his time looking east from his mountain home to the Blue Ridge Mountains and touring the South East playing early country and Old-time music with his wife Susette as their duet, The Shivers.
