Marybeth Mayhew Whalen is the author of When We Were Worthy, The Things We Wish Were True, and five previous novels. She is the co-founder of the popular women's fiction site,, and speaks to women's groups across the country.

In Whalen’s new novel, Only Ever Her, bride-to-be and hometown darling Annie Taft goes missing just days before her wedding. It might just be a case of cold feet, but Annie’s disappearance coincides with the release of the man who was convicted of killing her mother some 20 years ago—and it soon becomes apparent that something much more sinister might be at play. For lovers of Jodi Picoult and Liane Moriarty, Marybeth Mayhew Whalen brings readers another gripping, suspenseful novel that will take them to dark places but ultimately leave them with a sense of hope.

At Main Street Books, Whalen will discuss her new book with Davidson College Professor of English Cynthia Lewis. In addition to teaching early British literature, Lewis also teaches creative nonfiction. In fact, she taught Whalen decades ago during a summer workshop, when Whalen first began to believe she could be a writer.

Celebrate this sweet reunion and the release of another great book from Marybeth Mayhew Whalen at Main Street Books!
